3 words: Ashton frigging Kutcher. Remember 'Personal effects'? The worst Pfilm in Pfeiffer-history was made because of him. Do we really want our Michelle alongside that talentless dude again? One time was waaaay more than enough.
The rest of the cast is OK. Hilary Swank is a pretty decent actress (LOL, Els :p). I'd love to see Michelle work with Robert Deniro. I know they were both in 'Stardust', but they never actually appeared together. I also like the idea of Abigail Breslin in a scene with MP. Lea Michele, though, I don't like. For one, I can't stand Glee. The second reason, though very insignificant, is her name. I just hate the name Michelle spelled like Michele LOL.
My other objection with relevence to the cast is the fact that it's an ensemble cast. This means, like 'Stardust' and 'Hairspray', less on-screen time for Michelle. I just really want a Pfilm that people refer to as a "Michelle Pfeiffer movie".
Elsa brought up an important issue while we were chatting though; Michelle is probably not capable of carrying out a movie on her own. As dedicated Pfans are, the world of cinema has basically forgotten about Michelle Pfeiffer. So, with that said, I hope that this movie will at least put her back in the game for bigger movies in the future.
Even though 'Valentine's day' was a big success, I absolutely hated it. I was so excited when I heard that a Garry Marshall movie would hit the cinemas. So I went and couldn't believe my eyes. A complete waste of time, money and effort. And now Michelle's going to be in a sequel? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. As much as I want to see her again, I keep wondering if this is the way to go.
'Frankie and Johnny' is my favorite movie of all time. It's kind of ironic that I'm not jumping up and down for a chance at the Pfeiffer/Marshall team again. If it were a different kind of movie, I probably would be jumping. But for all the reasons I mentioned above, it simply won't do. Besides, what other great movie has Marshall directed after 'F&J'? 'Raising Helen'? 'The other sister'? I'm sorry, but all those movies sucked. But who know; maybe he just needs the inspiration he found in Michelle. If they can recreate the magic from 'F&J', then I'm in!
Nothing's official yet, so all we can do is hope she'll make the right decision. But like Elsa and I decided: If Michelle wants to do this movie, she should. Her happiness is far more important than our own opinion or some big box office success!
